Our approach

Technique chosen to

match the problem.

Every appointment starts with working out what is going on and where it is coming from, because the sore spot and the source are often not in the same place. From there your therapist picks the approach: deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, sports massage, pregnancy massage (a speciality of our therapist), or a combination across the one session.

You get told what we find and why it matters, during the session rather than in a summary at the door. And because there is a physiotherapy team in the same building, soft tissue work can be coordinated with your treatment plan instead of running as a separate errand across town.

What we help with

What we spend most of

our time on.

Nine presentations that fill most of the appointment book at our Leichhardt clinic. Filter to whichever is closest, or ring (02) 7227 9893 and describe it to us instead.

The techniques

Four techniques,

chosen on the day.

You do not need to pick one when you book. Your therapist selects and combines based on what the assessment shows.

Deep tissue

Slower, firmer work through the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. Used where tension is long standing rather than recent.

Trigger point therapy

Sustained pressure on specific tight points that refer pain elsewhere. This is often why the sore spot and the source are in different places.

Myofascial release

Working the fascia, the connective tissue wrapping muscle, where restriction limits movement rather than simply causing soreness.

Sports massage

Applied around training and competition, whether you are building load, recovering from an event, or managing a soft tissue injury.

How it works

From walking in

to walking out.

Four steps, no referral, and an assessment before hands go anywhere.

Book

Book online at any hour or call (02) 7227 9893. Choose 45 or 60 minutes. No referral is needed.

Assess

Your therapist assesses the problem area, checks your range of motion, and identifies what is driving the pain or restriction.

Treat

Treatment uses the techniques that match the presentation, with a clear explanation of what is being addressed and why as it happens.

Take home

You leave with advice on stretching, posture or activity modification to hold the result between sessions.

Appointments are 45 or 60 minutes. Health fund rebates are processed at reception on the day, so most people pay the gap only.

Why book with us

What sets

us apart.

Remedial massage sits somewhere between clinical treatment and an hour of relief. We treat it as the first and let the second happen anyway.

How much does remedial massage cost?
Fees depend on whether you book 45 or 60 minutes. Most clients with extras cover claim on the spot at reception and pay only the gap. Call (02) 7227 9893 for current pricing on both appointment lengths.
Yes, if your extras cover includes remedial massage. We have HICAPS at reception so the rebate is processed on the day and you pay the difference. How much you get back depends on your fund and your level of cover. Bring your card to the appointment.
No. Book directly online or by phone. If you are already seeing one of our physiotherapists and they have recommended soft tissue work, mention it when you book and we will coordinate between practitioners.
Remedial massage starts with an assessment and targets a specific problem, using techniques chosen for that presentation and a treatment plan across sessions. Relaxation massage is a general full body treatment aimed at feeling good rather than resolving anything in particular. Remedial is the one health funds rebate, and the one to book if something hurts.
Come in whatever is comfortable. You will undress to your level of comfort for the areas being treated and are covered with towels throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered. If you would rather stay clothed, say so, as plenty of techniques work through light clothing.
It depends on what you came in with. An acute problem may need a few sessions close together, then spaced out as it settles. Ongoing load from work or training is often managed with a regular appointment every few weeks. Your therapist will give you a straight answer at the first visit rather than signing you up to a block.
Tension type headaches often have a muscular and cervical component that responds to hands on treatment of the neck, jaw and upper back. Migraine is a neurological condition and is managed by your GP, though massage may help the muscular tension that builds around it. If your headaches are new, severe or changing in pattern, see a doctor first.
Deep tissue and trigger point work can be uncomfortable in places, but pressure is adjustable at any point and you should tell your therapist if it tips past productive. Some tenderness for a day afterwards is common. Sharp pain during treatment is not, so speak up.
